It was a short but sweet month. We’re reaching the final stretch of school and winter with a lot to look forward in the upcoming months. Toronto Fashion Week is coming up and instead of stressing over the incessant amount of essays due, I’m focusing my anxiety on what to wear to the Jennifer Torosian runway show. You choose your battles, right? Anyways, these past few weeks, I’ve accumulated some new discoveries and rekindled old loves.
Mac Patina Eyeshadow: this shadow was my first love and gateway Mac purchase. Two years ago, I was in my dorm watching Tanya Burr do a daytime smokey eye when I realized I had to have this. The next day I went straight to Mac to buy this and I’d do it again. This is my absolute favorite eyeshadow to wear all over the lid. It’s a cool toned bronze with a subtle pearly multifaceted finish. It’s my go to for an everyday wash of color or main focus of a smokey eye.
NYX Nude Beige Lipliner: Another cool toned product, this is a new look for me. As the name suggests, it’s a nude beige but with purpley greyish brown undertones. Its long lasting matte formula wears well with all my light nude lipsticks. But my favorite way to wear it is in conjunction with the following product…
Buxom Margaret Lip Polish: This gloss is stunning atop the NYX lipliner (and alone), it’s a light brown nude with pale gold flecks that add an undetectable juiciness to the lips. The minty tingle plumps lips and feels refreshing when reapplied. Not going to lie I bought this because of the name and I’m so happy I did. Buxom make some of my favorite lip products, this being my ultimate favorite, and will do a review on the rest of the products I own from them soon.
Sephora Pro Flawless Face Brush: Everyone and their mother said this brush is amazing and obviously they were all right. I don’t know how it works, but it truly gives an airbrushed finish to my makeup application. I use it for powder makeup and it undetectably melts product into my skin so my blush, bronzer and contour transition without harsh lines.
Zara Bomber Jacket: I bought this on a whim because it looks so much like the Saint Laurent original. Topshop make one too, which I’ve wanted since last year, but the back sat unfittingly on me and is double the price of this one. This turned out to be a great bang for my buck because I can finally put my leather jacket to rest (lol who am I kidding, that’s not really possible for me). It’s different from what I normally wear but still lets me feel like myself, plus it’s super practically for those weird weather days.
Black Turtlenecks: Next to black jeans, black turtlenecks are one of the most universally flattering clothing pieces of all time. Bold statement, complete truth. The most versatile and timeless piece in my F/W wardrobe, getting a few staple black turtlenecks in different cuts and fabrics give me a solid foundation to experiment without straying from my style. Check out Brandy Melville and Zara, they have so many options for a reasonable price.
Vega Bar (Chocolate Peanut Butter): I don’t really like snacks, I’m more of a meal kind of girl. But, at school it’s difficult to get a somewhat healthy meal/lugging around food all day isn’t the most ideal. In come these bars. Made from plant based proteins (whole grain, rice and pea) and organic ingredients, these bars are a one stop super-food shop. Also hidden behind the chocolate peanut butter are supergreens: kale, spinach, broccoli, alfalfa grass, probiotics etc.
David’s Tea: I’ve finished yet another tin of the Organic Pu’erh Ginger, probably my fifth or sixth time. This stuff is my crack and I think they’ve discontinued it (brb crying). Made with fermented pu’erh, ginger, and orange peel, this pungent tea improves bacterial flora, fights disease, aids digestion, is anti-inflammatory and helps PMS. Once I find a solid replacement, I will hopefully report back in another monthly favorites.
