Broome Street General Store
2912 Rowena Ave
Not your typical general store, BSGS carries unique fashion brands such as The Great, Steven Alan, A.P.C., Ariel Gordon Jewelry, Malin and Goetz, Sachajuan, Tata Harper, Atelir Cologne etc. Torontonians, think of it as the lovechild of Pusateri’s and TNTFashion for Gen Y hipsters. I’m not sure which came first, the coffee shop or the general store, but both the coffee and clothes are a 10. Being a material girl before a foodie, I went straight to the cool candles and unique labels. Their dainty jewelry and exotic olive oils caught my eye. If you need to run errands and grab a cuppa, go to Broome Street General Store to kill two birds with one stone (only if you’re a stylish Silverlake urbanite/coffee aficionado) (jk).
American Tea Room
909 S Santa Fe Ave
Minimal, modern and totally zen. Expect the finest international teas brewed in a quintessentially L.A. cafe. You’ll find a plethora of bloggers, business moguls and angsty beatniks eating green salad and drinking green tea. There’s banana bread and coconut oolong too (10/10 would recommend). Their instagrammable aesthetic, along with no-bad-vibes ambience makes this not-so-little cafe worth a visit.
